Your failing PDFs fixed within 5 business days of your order
For US cities and counties serving 50,000 or more, after your free document inventory. Pay only for files passing your checker; we refund what you paid if you ask.
Start with a free document inventory
Email hello@pdfretag.com with your government's website address. If you already have your inventory, reply 'send the order' to our email, or name the documents to fix first.
Agendas, minutes, notices and forms, posted as PDF files
A government website links years of agendas, minutes, notices, budgets and forms as PDF and Office files. Many were never built for screen readers: no tags, no language, no title, images without alt text. Few offices have the staff to fix them all by hand. The ADA Title II web rule's first compliance date, for governments serving 50,000 or more, is April 26, 2027.
We fix the PDF files you choose
You choose the files from your document inventory: non-form PDF files with a text layer, up to 100 pages each. We fix each one, re-check it and email it back ready to upload. You replace the originals yourself; we never need access to your website or internal systems. A file still failing after 2 passes comes back unfixed with its reason, and is not billed.
- Tags, document language and title on each file
- Alt text for images that fits the document's context
- A checked heading hierarchy, reading order, and bookmarks built from the headings
- Table headers linked to their cells, including complex tables
- Each file re-checked and delivered upload-ready, named and arranged in your site's own paths to replace the original
- A check report for each file and a log of the fixes made
Start with a free document inventory
Your free document inventory lists every PDF, Word, Excel and PowerPoint file your public pages link, with its address, type, page count, linking page and last-modified date. Each file is marked pass or fail on automated accessibility checks. Failing files and pages are totalled by site section, document type and date. A CSV lets you mark files and return them with an order. It also has 3 of your own failing documents fixed, with before and after check reports.
- It needs nothing from you and is built only from your public website.
- It does not cover files behind logins or in portals that block crawling.
- It gives no legal advice and does not say which files to fix; your government decides its compliance position.
- Fillable forms and scanned files are listed and flagged, not fixed.
- Dates are the server's last-modified dates; a file without one is listed as date unknown.
- No payment and no commitment: it never turns into an order.
- One per government, identified by its official website domain.
Government Document Inventory with 3 Fixed Files
- Every PDF, Word, Excel and PowerPoint file linked from your public pages: its address, file type, page count, linking page, and last-modified date where the server gives it
- Pass or fail for each file on automated accessibility checks: untagged, no language, missing alt text, missing title, scanned image without text
- Totals of failing files and pages by site section
- Failing files split by document type (forms and applications; agendas, minutes and notices; other) and by date (last 12 months; 12-24 months; older than 24 months; date unknown)
- Fillable forms and scanned files flagged
- A CSV download of the inventory, which you can mark to choose files and return with an order
- 3 of your own failing non-form documents fixed, with before and after check reports to re-test in your own checker
Email hello@pdfretag.com with your government's website address. We build the document inventory from your public pages and email you its private link within about 2 business days of the crawl.
How it works
We build your document inventory
From your public website only, on a private page at a long, unguessable address. It needs nothing from you and no access to your systems.
You check it with your own tools
Open any file from the inventory, and re-test the 3 fixed files in Acrobat Pro's Accessibility Full Check or PAC.
You reply and choose the files
Reply 'send the order', or name the documents to fix first. We answer questions by email and send a one-page order. Mark your files in the inventory CSV and return it.
You accept the order in writing
Reply from your government address with the acceptance words the order asks for, or email your purchase order. Nothing is ordered until then.
We deliver; you re-test
We email the fixed files, each with its check report. Report any file that fails your checker, with its report, within 10 business days, and we re-work it at no charge.
One invoice for the passing files
After the 10-business-day window, one invoice by email for the pages of files that pass, never above USD 3,600 for a first batch.
Price
USD 1.80 a page of each PDF file you select, files up to 100 pages each
- First batch: up to 2,000 pages, not to exceed USD 3,600
- From April 26, 2027, after a paid batch: USD 600 a month for a monthly re-crawl of your site and up to 300 newly posted pages fixed; USD 1.80 a page beyond, only if you agree by email
- A page is billed only when its delivered file passes your own checker: Adobe Acrobat Pro's Accessibility Full Check with no item marked "Failed", or PAC with no failed check, under the conditions at https://pdfretag.com/guarantee
- Report a failing file by email, with your checker's report, within 10 business days of delivery and we re-work it at no charge. A file still failing is not billed; a file not reported within the window is billed.
- Never billed: files that fail our own check before delivery, fillable forms and scanned files returned unfixed, re-work, and the free document inventory.
- A batch is invoiced once by email after its 10-business-day window, for the pages of files that pass. Payment by bank transfer or check, net 30 or your government's standard terms up to net 60.
- Batches are never split to fit a purchase limit; a second batch is a new order. You may cancel a batch by email before we deliver it, and it is not billed.
- Monthly service: it starts only after you agree by email, in a separate reply, to its automatic renewal; it is invoiced by email at the end of each month, and renews each month until you cancel. Cancel by email at any time; it ends at the end of the current month, with no further invoice.
FAQ
You are new. Why should we trust your files?
You do not have to take our word for it. Your document inventory links every file on your own site, and the 3 fixed files come with before and after reports. Re-test them in Acrobat Pro's Accessibility Full Check or PAC. In an order, a page is billed only when its file passes your own checker, under the conditions at https://pdfretag.com/guarantee
Do you tell us what the ADA requires of us?
No. We give no legal advice and do not certify compliance. We report automated accessibility check results and fix the files you choose; your government decides which files to fix. The ADA Title II web rule's first compliance date, for governments serving 50,000 or more, is April 26, 2027.
What do you need from us?
For the document inventory, nothing: we build it from your public pages. For an order, the files you choose, marked in the inventory CSV, and the order accepted in writing. Editable source files are optional. We never need access to your website or internal systems; you upload the fixed files yourself.
How is a first batch bought?
As one order of up to 2,000 pages, not to exceed USD 3,600. You accept it in writing, by reply from your government address or by emailing your purchase order. We never split a batch to fit a purchase limit. We do not respond to formal RFPs, and we offer no certificate of insurance or vendor certification.
What about fillable forms and scanned files?
They are listed and flagged in your document inventory, and are not fixed or billed in the first order.
How do billing and cancelling work?
One invoice by email per batch, after its 10-business-day window, for the pages of files that pass: net 30, or your standard terms up to net 60. You may cancel a batch by email before delivery, and it is not billed. The monthly service, offered from April 26, 2027 after a paid batch, renews monthly until you cancel by email; it ends at the end of that month.
What happens after the document inventory?
Nothing, unless you reply. We send one follow-up email with one more of your documents fixed, then stop. If you want files fixed, reply and we email a one-page order.
